Information on research activity is required for a variety of reasons. Strategically, it informs an institution of its performance and competitiveness and allows it to take decisions based on that information. From an operational perspective, systems and tools are required to support day-to-day research administration and fulfil the needs of external stakeholders.
We are currently working on a project to review the higher education sector’s success in implementing research management systems. It aims to translate good practice and provide a resource that can be used across the sector. This project is being conducted by Imperial College London in partnership with Elsevier and has been funded by JISC.
